Prayers Before the Rosary

Queen of the Holy Rosary
Queen of the Holy Rosary

Regína Sancti Rosárii, quæ tribus pastórculis grátiæ in Rosário occúltæ thesaurórum revelandórum causa ad Fátimam descéndere dignátus es, inspíra cor meum amóre sincéro ejúsdem devotiónis; ut, mystéria Redemptiónis nostræ in eo recoléntes, ab frúctibus ejus locúpleter, et pacem mundo, conversiónem peccatórum ac Rússiæ, et has grátias ímpetrem. (Hic dicúntur petitiónes.) Hæc a Te peto ad majórem Dei glóriam, honórem tuum, et bonum animárum, præsértim bonum meum. Amen.

Queen of the Holy Rosary, thou hast deigned to come to Fatima to reveal to the three shepherd children the treasures of grace hidden in the Rosary. Inspire my heart with a sincere love of this devotion, in order that by meditating on the Mysteries of our Redemption which are recalled in it, I may be enriched by its fruits and obtain peace for the world, the conversion of sinners and of Russia, and the graces which I ask of Thee in this Rosary. (Here mention your request.) I ask this for the greater glory of God, for thine own honor, and for the good of souls, especially for my own. Amen.

Veni Sancte Spiritus | Come Holy Spirit

VENI, Sancte Spiritus, reple tuorum corda fidelium, et tui amoris in eis ignem accende.
V. Emitte Spiritum tuum et creabuntur,
R. Et renovabis faciem terrae.
Oremus:
DEUS, qui corda fidelium Sancti Spiritus illustratione docuisti, da nobis in eodem Spiritu recta sapere, et de eius semper consolatione gaudere per Christum Dominum nostrum. Amen.

COME, Holy Ghost, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and kindle in them the fire of Thy love.
V. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created,
R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray:
O GOD, Who taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Ghost, grant that, by the gift of the same Spirit, we may be always truly wise, and ever rejoice in His consolation through Christ our Lord. Amen.

God Come to My Assistance

+Deus in adjutorium meum intende.
 Domine, ad adiuvandum me festina.

+Oh God, come to my assistance.
Oh Lord, make haste to help me.

Prayer of St. Louis de Montfort

Amen.

I unite myself with all the Saints in Heaven, and with all the just on earth; I unite myself with Thee, my Jesus, in order to praise Thy Holy Mother worthily and to praise Thee in her and by her. I renounce all the distractions that may come to me while I am saying this Rosary. I desire to say it with attention and devotion as if it were the last of my life. Amen.

Oratio Sancti Alphonsi Mariae de Ligorio Ante Meditationem | Prayer of St. Alphonsus Liguori Before Meditation

Deus meus, credo Te adésse, et Te adóro in toto corde meo. Propter peccáta mea nunc ardére in inférno méreo. O Deus meus, nam Te offendísse me pǽnitet; ignósce mihi. Pater ætérne, da mihi lucem in hac meditatióne, ut mihi prosit.

My God, I believe that Thou art here present, and I adore Thee with all my heart. I deserve at this moment to be burning in hell for my sins; O my God, I am sorry for having offended Thee; pardon me. Eternal Father, grant me light in this meditation, that I may profit by it.
